Hidden in the heart of downtown, Juan P. Mijares spends his days making and repairing violins in a small workshop even most locals need directions to find. He’s been working in the shop since he opened it in 1987, though he hardly considers it “work.” To Mijares, the intense focus required to both create and play a violin is more like a calming meditation.
